A study by Herbert-Losier et al (2017) studied over 500 healthy active people and found the below norms for male and female age groups:
20-29yrs: Males 37 Reps, Females 30 Reps
30-39yrs: Males 32 Reps, Females 27 Reps
40-49yrs: Males 28 Reps, Females 24 Reps
50-59yrs: Males 23 Reps, Females 21 Reps
60-69yrs: Males 19 Reps, Females 19 Reps
70-79yrs: Males 14 Reps, Females 16 Reps
Practitioners will find this a useful reference to guide rehabilitation of any lower limb rehabilitation, to ensure their patients are working towards age and sex matched healthy norms!
Subjects who have suffered an injury, dont lower the standards of your ability, your rehabilitation should be guided to return to to activity stronger than you have been before.
Top tip when performing this exercise: Ensure weight is pushed through the 'Big and second toe', making sure you do not roll onto the outside of your foot.
